DVI KVM Switches USB KVM Switches

KVM Switch KVM Switch, simply put, is a (K)eyboard, (V)ideo, and (M)ouse switch which will allow you to use a single keyboard, mouse, and video display for multiple computers. A KVM Switch will allow the user to control multiple compuers from a single keyboard, viseo monitor, and mouse. A user connects a monitor, keyboard, and mouse to the KVM device, then uses special cables to connect the KVM device to the computers. Control is switched from one computer to another by the use of buttons on the KVM device, with the KVM passing the signals between the computers and the keyboard, mouse and monitor depending on which computer is currently selected. Most devices also allow control to be switched through keyboard commands (such as hitting a certain key, often Scroll Lock, rapidly two or three times). Some KVM devices also provide peripheral emulation - they send signals to the computers that are not currently selected to ensure that they do not think that the keyboard, mouse and monitor are disconnected.

Computer Cable Inc is an online retailer of cables and cabling products and they offer a full line of KVM Switches. With the growing popularity of dual-head setups, you can even get a Dual Monitor KVM Switch, a USB KVM Switch, or a DVI KVM Switch. Check out http://www.computercableinc.com for a full line of cables and cabling products including a selection of KVM Switches.

KVM switches are popular among users who have upgraded their home PC systems and want to still use their old computers but do not want to invest in a second keyboard, monitor and mouse. KVM switches are also used by business to save money when one person uses more than one computer and in server farms where it is only necessary to periodically access each separate server in the farm one at a time. However, often times most importantly, a KVM gives the user the ability to have multiple computers without the desktop cluster of multiple keyboard, mouse, and monitor sets. There are also remote KVM switches available which work through lan or wan networks allowing multiple devices to be controlled remotely.
